Mirka Jichova is a jazz singer, composer, arranger, pianist, educator, and the founder and leader of the jazz group NoBand, based out of the Czech Republic. NoBand has to date recorded three CDs and performed at outdoor festivals and major Czech venues, including the Blues Sklep in Prague, Fleda in Brno, and many others. Currently living in New Orleans, Mirka has been fortunate to perform with some of the best-know figures in jazz, including Ellis Marsalis, Mark Murphy, Mike Clark, Troy Davis, Bill Summers, Maria Marquez, Topsy Chapman, or David Devoe, and at venues including the Columns Hotel, the Neutral Ground Coffee House, the Louis Armstrong Jazz National Historic Park, or as part of Jazz at the Sandbar series, sponsored by one of the premier jazz clubs in New Orleans, the Snug Harbor jazz bistro.
Mirka’s repertoire is a mixture of unique arrangements of jazz standards and her own music in the tradition of jazz, blues, fusion and gospel, usually performed with a 5-piece or a 4-piece band.
